About Surgiderm Fillers
Produced by Allergan, Surgiderm is a line of injectable dermal fillers indicated for the treatment of aging skin and its associated conditions. The product is made of pure cross-linked hyaluronic acid, and is available in 6 formulations, customized to correct most concerns related to mature skin.
The Surgiderm line consists of 18, 24 XP, 30, 30 XP, Surgilips and Surgilift Plus.
What type of patients should you use them on?
Individuals who will benefit most from a Surgiderm treatment are women and men who are looking to fix facial aging-related concerns, fine lines, loss of facial volume, and dry skin. Candidates should be above the age of 18 and not exhibit any allergies or hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or any of its derivatives.
What are the target Areas Treated with Surgiderm?
- Laughter, smoker’s, and perioral lines – Fine lines that emerge around the eye and mouth areas can be easily corrected using 18.
- Deep lines and wrinkles – Deeper lines require treatment with 24 XP, which is injected deeper into the dermal tissues.
- Deep depressions, wrinkles, and deep lines – 30 and 30 XP are able to fix severe depressions and wrinkles, as they are designed to be injected into the deepest layer of the dermal tissues.
- Lips – Surgilips is customized for lip augmentation and smoker’s lines.
How does the Surgiderm formula work?
The physical manifestations of skin aging, such as wrinkles, fine lines, and facial volume loss can be mainly attributed to a loss of hydration and elasticity in the dermal tissues. Surgiderm addresses this problem by replenishing the dermal tissue with hyaluronic acid, a compound key to water retention in the skin that is loss over time from age. Surgiderm’s primary action when injected into the skin is to act as a physical filler to plump the skin from within, thus filling out wrinkles and smoothing skin. Surgiderm also aids in retaining water in that area, hence rehydrating and rejuvenating the skin, restoring its glow. Finally, Surgiderm also stimulates collagen synthesis, an action that helps to restore elasticity and suppleness to the skin.
What makes Surgiderm unique?
The hyaluronic acid contained in Surgiderm products are manufactured through a patented cross-linking process known as 3D Hyaluronic Acid Matrix Technology, resulting in a gel with increased stability and durability when compared with other brands of dermal fillers.
The products in the Surgiderm line are designed to act in varying depths of the dermal layers. For instance, 18 is formulated for the superficial dermis and the correction of fine lines, while 30 is for the treatment of deep lines and wrinkles.
How to use
Treatment with Surgiderm is fast, easy, and simple. The process begins with a consultation session with the patient, where details such as outcome expectations and treatment options are discussed. Here, take down the patient’s medical history, noting any history of allergic reactions or previous cosmetic procedures. Treatment may be carried out once the patient is deemed suitable for Surgiderm treatment.
Treatment with Surgiderm can only be administered by a trained medical professional. Before the injection, disinfect the area to be treated with an appropriate antiseptic solution. If needed, administer a local anesthetic to the area to be injected. Inject Surgiderm into the skin to the depth appropriate for the type of treatment, using standard injection techniques. All in all, the entire procedure should take about 30 minutes.
How long will it take your patients to recover?
There is no recovery time necessary following a treatment session. Patients can expect to immediately resume their daily activities as per usual. However, they should exercise the stipulated precautions.
How Long Do The Effects Of Surgiderm Last?
Results of a Surgiderm treatment are expected to last in the range of 9 to 12 months. This depends on the age of the patient, quality of skin, lifestyle (smoking or UV exposure may shorten the effect), product type, and area of treatment.
