Presentation/Quantity

Latisse ophthalmic solution is packaged in a 5ml bottle made of low-density polyethylene. It is supplied with 70 single-use sterile applicators, as well as a product leaflet, which contains essential information such as contraindications, precautions, and special warnings.

Main Benefits

Latisse is commonly used for the treatment of hypotrichosis (i.e. inadequate eyelashes). It stimulates eyelash growth while also enhancing their darkness, length, and thickness. The ophthalmic solution has been approved for use by the FDA.

Ingredients

This ocular solution is formulated with 0.3mg/ml of bimatoprost. In addition, it contains inactive excipients such as sodium phosphate, purified water, hydrochloric acid, sodium chloride, dibasic citric acid and sodium hydroxide.

Ingredient Information

Derived synthetically from cloprostenol, bimatoprost is an amide. It is believed that bimatoprost promotes the growth of lashes by prolonging the anagen phase of hair follicles. While the exact mechanism of action of bimatoprost has not been fully determined, it is also known to have antihypertensive properties, which make it suitable for the treatment of ocular hypertension and open-angle glaucoma.

Hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide are used as buffers to maintain the pH of this solution.

Use Instructions

How do I use or apply this product?

It is recommended to use Latisse once every night. Before using the ophthalmic solution, wash the face thoroughly and remove all eye makeup. Put 1 drop of the solution on the applicator. Then, apply it to the upper eyelid margin at the base of the lashes (without touching the lower lashes). After use, tissue off any excess solution and discard used applicators. Do not reuse the applicators to avoid contamination.

If patients miss a dose, they should skip the missed dose and take the next dose on the following night. Never double up on any dose to make up for a missed dose.

When should I use this product?

Latisse may be used in patients with insufficient eyelashes. You may prescribe this ophthalmic solution for patients whose lashes lack length, density, or thickness.

What areas can I treat with this product?

Latisse is specially designed to treat eyelashes that lack darkness, length, and thickness. Latisse should be applied to the base of the upper lashes. Patients should not apply the ophthalmic solution directly into the eye, or to the lower eyelid.

How long does the product last?

For longer-lasting results, apply the ophthalmic solution regularly. The effects of Latisse are not permanent. Once discontinued, the growth of lashes will return to its original rate. Be aware that using extra doses of Latisse will not further increase eyelash growth.

How long does the treatment take?

With a slow onset of action, Latisse will only show noticeable effects 2 months after the commencement of treatment.
