female face after Using Restylane for a Nonsurgical Nose Job

A nonsurgical nose job is an alternative option for individuals who do not want to undergo a surgical rhinoplasty procedure. Injecting dermal fillers, including hyaluronic acid, hydroxyapatite or fat grafting for minimal yet effective augmentation is a less invasive way of reshaping the nose. Also known as a “lunchtime nose job,” the procedure can take on an average of 30 minutes to complete.

For the past decade, hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers have become a top choice due to its impressive and natural-looking volumizing capabilities. Without any invasive surgery, an injection helps to reshape the contour of the nose, such as increasing the depressed areas on the nose to create a “straightened” bridge. It can also help to lift the angle of the tip to make the nose appear sharper. Most individuals seek nose augmentation either to correct an asymmetrical nose shape or the achieve a desired sculpted profile.

Restylane: the hyaluronic acid filler of choice

Restylane is a popular line of dermal fillers. Proven to be safe and highly satisfactory, this brand is also the first to be approved by the US Food and Drug Administration with indications for wrinkles and folds in aging skin. It is also highly tolerable in the human body, as it is also available in large concentration in the body prior to the aging process. Notable for hydration and supporting collagen production, this sugar molecule provides sturdy and non-mutagenic volume.

Restylane’s hyaluronic acid is sourced from the sterile fermentation of Streptococcus bacteria. It is processed using NASHA™ Technology to create a cross-linked network of monophasic hyaluronic acid. This network helps to resist rapid enzymatic degradation within the dermal layer and sustain its gel for a longer period of time.

Techniques for a dermal filler nose job

The physician must know the anatomy of the nose and the techniques required for this treatment. They should also identify if the condition of the nose requires a surgical intervention. It is also important to consider the needle or cannula’s potential maneuvering around convoluted blood vessels within the nose. To provide additional comfort to the patient, apply an anesthetic, such as lidocaine, to the area. The patient should only feel the tingling sensation of the injection and not the burning pain of the gel flowing inside.

For a nose lift, use a cannula to perform a slow retrograde injection technique.

To augment the nasal tip of the nose, it is preferable to use a 30G needle on the footplates of the lower lateral cartilage and the base of the columella rather than the tip itself. Inject small amounts of Restylane in order to avoid formation of lumps.

As for reducing the sight of uneven bumps on the nose, either caused by birth defects or accidents, place the cannula in the midline of the columella region and inject in a retrograde manner up with a maximum amount of 0.5ml. Certain patients may require lower degree of enhancement. For this correction, use a 30G needle to enter the skin via the nasal spine.

Expectations

As with every dermal injections, there is a risk of developing minor side effects such as swelling, bruising, redness, pain and tenderness, which can resolve within 1 or 2 weeks. This can be reduced by immediately cooling the area with an ice pack after completing the treatment. The patient must not perform any strenuous exercises, expose the area to excessive sun or hot temperatures for 24 hours after the injection.

Restylane treatments can last up to 12 months. Although it is temporary, it can save the patient from the longer downtime of surgical treatments, or provide a prototype look before proceeding with a permanent correction.
